My Health for the iPhone is the culmination of many things for Polka. For too long, people around the globe have been taking their health information into their own hands, without the tools to do so effectively.
The release of My Health for the iPhone embodies our year-long mission to provide next-generation applications for user-empowered healthcare. Polka is an independent private company that is solely dedicated to providing a service to the user, without any conflicting business model issues that existing software or search technology companies, insurers, and HMOs have exhibited.
We are building our business around the core value of listening to and acting on user feedback and requests. Customers of My Emergency Info for the iPhone provided Polka with valuable insight. They wanted to synchronize their health information and have it available anytime, anywhere, all the time through mobile, web, and even paper platforms. So Polka listened and built the My Health – My Team portal for everyone on the web and via mobile, as well as a full-powered version customized for our friends with iPhones.
My Health for the iPhone’s dashboard provides simple, easy icon access to a user’s health profile allergies, prescriptions, conditions, and more and, for the first time, enables transport of data as a CCR to health partners from the web or phone.
Social networking today provides astounding services to track the minutia of each other’s lives, but not our most important asset – our health. With My Health for the iPhone, you can easily and instantly track and share your own health information and those in your care with medical and key support teams. The information you need most is now at hand immediately in your everyday life, for chronic illness, or in the case of emergency.
The most acclaimed feature from our first group of My Health for the iPhone users is the personal log. It’s a private/public interface for communicating My Health with My Team. Polka is the first company to take the emerging CCR health records and intertwine them with messages from a personal log that you can share with your health team. It allows a person to create a private, directed channel of their health, making it extremely simple to get started and focus on the important aspects of health and communication of it.
We currently sell on the Apple App Store only. In the future, we plan to have a web-only premium service offering, as well as support for other mobile phones.
Polka’s value is based on enabling you to create and manage your unique record, on your terms. As a user, you publish your health information when you create your record. You also control who is on your team, enabling them to advocate for you, in helping to manage your health. You do not have to pay to be a team member. You only pay when you want to create your own record and have your own team. Team members can be friends, family, and healthcare providers. My Health for iPhone and My Health for iPhone Lite are sold on the Apple App Store.
